About the Role

We are seeking a motivated and detail-oriented Power Systems Technician to join our team.

You will provide expertise across Electricity Distribution Control and Protection systems, delivering installation, maintenance, testing and commissioning services throughout the Canterbury and the greater South Island region. ILS has also completed projects in the Pacific Islands and is committed to continuing with opportunities in this region.

This is an exciting opportunity to work on a variety of projects while developing your technical skills alongside experienced professionals.

About You – Skills and experience required

  • National Certificate in Electrical Supply (Power Technician) Level 5 or similar with two years or more post qualification experience
  • EWRB Practicing License Required.
  • Proven experience working in HV Substation environments.
  • Competency in HV Switching and Permitting activities
  • Hands-on experience with protection primary and secondary relay testing, fault finding and commissioning.
  • Installing/maintaining substation and other high voltage protection equipment, as per current regulations and standards.
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and complete accurate reporting and asbuilt documentation.
  • Strong problemsolving skills, computer literacy and a collaborative, teamfocused mindset.
